Official walkthrough: The Fifth Gate
Eden, the greatest gardener in the Fairy Kingdom, has been kidnapped by the wicked Morgana in our latest time management game, The Fifth Gate. Still locked within the gates and need a few hints? Read our official The Fifth Gate walkthrough, courtesy of the game's designer, Nico!
First Gate
To start, you’ll find yourself in the first garden. Morgana will assign you quests, and as you complete them she’ll hand over special Gate Gems. Once you’ve got all five gems, the gate will open and you can move on to the next garden.
At first, you’ll just have a few buttercup plants to take care of. As you complete more quests, you’ll unlock new types of flowers that you can plant. It’s up to you which plants to grow, but you’ll find that a good balance usually works best. After a long day in the garden, you’ll turn your blossoms into magical potions. Each potion formula calls for a different mix of blossoms, so it’s good to harvest a variety.
You can sell potions and use the money to buy upgrades, water, and more. You can also sell blossoms directly, but you’ll earn more money by turning them into potions first. Be careful not to sell every potion though – you’ll need some to complete Mogana’s quests. Completing quests gets you new flowers and the all-important Gate Gems, so keep an eye on what Morgana wants.
Second Gate
After you’re through the First Gate, you’ll find yourself in the second garden. The first thing you’ll notice is that you have a whole new kind of plant – Helper plants! Helper plants don’t produce blossoms to harvest, but are incredibly valuable nonetheless.
The first one you’ll see is the Dewdrop plant. From time to time, the Dewdrop plant makes a big glistening drop of water. Harvest the water drop to replenish your water jug. The Dewdrop plant makes a nice early addition to the garden, when you don’t have a lot of money to buy water. Just remember that every Helper plant takes away a garden plot that could be generating blossoms!
Next up is the Pest Magnet plant. If you’re getting tired of swatting all those bugs, plant one of these babies. When the Pest Magnet is ready, you can click it to freeze all of the pests and draw them to the plant. Then it just takes one click on each to send them packing. Take that, pests!
Finally, you’ll see the Fertilizer plant. This plant will cause any nearby plant to fully bloom. The Fertilizer plant lets you harvest even more blossoms and will shift you potion making into overdrive.
Third Gate
In the third garden, things get really exciting because you get spells. Spells are powerful upgrades that you can buy once you’ve restored the Spell Caster area of the garden. Spells are just the thing to handle the ever-increasing size and complexity of your garden.
The Rain spell waters every thirsty plant at the same time. The harvest spell harvests every available blossom with one click. And the Pest Killer spell rids your garden of every pest in it. Spells are great, but be careful – they run out after six uses so you’ll have to keep some money in your budget to keep your spells replenished.
Fourth Gate
Things are really heating up now! You’ll have to use your full arsenal of upgrades, Helper plants and spells to keep on top of the gardening. Don’t forget about upgrading your storage area and fountain. The storage area is especially important – you’ll find yourself harvesting a lot of blossoms in this garden. If your storage area doesn’t keep pace, you’ll end up wasting a lot of precious blossoms when you run out of storage space.
Fifth Gate
This is it, the last garden! You’ll need to use everything you’ve learned and all your wits to get out of this one. Can you keep up with the demands of the garden and get expert score on each quest? We’ll see, won’t we dearie…
