Producer talks about new PlayFirst game, Love and Death: Bitten

New Playfirst game, Love and Death: Bitten, is out!

Love and Death: Bitten is now available for you to try or buy! It's PlayFirst's new vampire game, full of adventure, puzzles and romance.

Sunpath, the producer, shares more about the adventure game in our interview:

What exactly do you do as a game producer on Love and Death: Bitten?

Being a game producer sometimes feels like being the captain of a big (or small!) ship out on the ocean.  There are a lot of people on the boat all working hard to keep it moving forward, and the producer needs to make sure everyone knows what their role is, and where the ship will eventually "dock" - when the game launches and you get to play it!

I get most excited by the opportunity to work with so many creative people who all care so deeply about the game and want to create the best experience that we can for our players.

Wow - romance, hidden object/adventure AND vampires! Lots in one game!

Helen, our Lead Designer for the game, will tell you more about how the concept was developed, but I really enjoyed working with all these themes, even more than I thought I would.

When the project started, I was mainly an adventure player, not so much a hidden object fan.  Working on Love and Death: Bitten and playing other hidden object games during the course of the project has turned me around. Hidden Objects are fun!

Players may be surprised when they first play Love and Death: Bitten -

"Whoa! Romance plus a little bit of heat in a PlayFirst game, not to mention vampires and danger!"

All these themes have also really spiced up the process of working on the game.

For example, it was quite fun to review all the sketches and pre-final versions of the above character pose!

We set out to deliver a game that plays a bit like a romance novel - to let the player sit back, relax, and "Curl Up with a Good Game".

We wrapped the romance/vampire theme in a variety of good gameplay: Puzzles, hidden object scenes, and adventure are all there. And if you get stuck anywhere, there are always hints to help you through.

Going back to making the game, what was the hardest part of working on Love and Death: Bitten?

Back to the ship/captain analogy - it's challenging to push a game forward toward a launch goal when many members of the team are so passionate about it.  On Love and Death: Bitten, we also had a number of staff changes internally over the course of the project, and also worked with several studios around the world to get all the assets done for the game.

In the end, I think all of the hours of hard work have paid off and we're excited to see your reactions when you play! Let us know what you think in the comments below!

  1. I hope that you guys make a second one to love and death. Bitten because it had such a bad ending like cliff hanger it sooo needs another one to go alone with it!!!

  2. I agree with Tiffany. There does need to be another one. The ending is definitely not what i expected. It was a very good game so I hope you guys are working on another part to this.

  3. The horrible end prevents me to replay the game, and it means that I wasted my money.
You could use the Terminator motif: “I’ll be back”, i.e. perish Celeste for the time being, and give us the pleasure to see the favorite couple united.

We have enough tragedies in real life – give us the pleasure to be satisfied, winning the obstacles.

  4. I really enjoyed the game. I would love to also see a sequel as it did not have a happy ending.

  5. Thanks for your comments everyone!

The ending is tailored to make a sequel possible if we wind up making that decision…
of course when designing the game the creative team always hopes that the decision will be made for a sequel, even though we can never be sure if you, our audience, will like the first game enough! Whether or not a sequel makes sense for business reasons…and so on… lots of decisions!

I can totally understand all the reactions to the ending that we have read so far (both here and in the forums).

In some ways, many of us here actually see the ending as leaving it open for Victoria to really have even more to do in any future game(s)…there are a lot of questions still left unanswered.

Over the course of the project we have been kicking around concept ideas for a potential sequel and they’re pretty interesting! Stay tuned…

  6. I agree with others. When I finally past the whole level, I’m dissapointed about at the end. I hope the new “Love and Death: Bitten will be coming out soon.

  7. Seriously PLEASE MAKE A SECOND ONE!!! >..< I wanna find out what happens to Damon and Victoria there could be a real good storyline there and a lot of game possibilities. I loved the first game it was so much fun :D So yeah seconds please!! lol

  8. I just wanna say that I think I really like this game. Lucky for me, I had just played another game with an amazing love story, so I was in a romantic mood and remembered reading about this game, and I thought “Why not try it?” It’s awesome! I played the trial and afterwards I was like “Darn it!!! It’s been an hour already?!?” xD Maybe I’ll ask for it for my birthday, which is soon. It’s weird, I’ve never been a fan of Twilight but I really love this; Damon is SO handsome lol. xD And yeah, I know what happens at the end cuz I have this really, really, really bad habit of spoiling my games beforehand (don’t know why…?). All I can say is, I hope you make a sequel!!!! Love and Death: Bitten is awesome!!! :D

  9. The sequel in my opinion should be like Damon running after Victoria as Victoria serves the evil queen and like he should find his sisters and turn them back into princesses and rediscover his land and try his best to find victoria and prove his love for her once more and turn her back into a human and live happily ever after in his kingdom!! And also defeat that wiatch celeste xD She really is such a witch

  10. Hey all, thanks for all the comments! I’ll pass them on to our team. We love hearing what you have to say and really appreciate the feedback. We’ll do our best to keep delivering the games you like to play!

  11. All right …where is the sequel ????

  12. Please, Please, Please, Please make a sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!! They gave us a glimpse into the future and now I want to play as Victoria the Vamp and Damon the Hot Human!!! I almost died when Vicky got bitten and now I want to make her human again!!!! Gosh this is so so soooooo frustrating!!!! And make the sequel longer!!!! I played the first in like an hour and want more variations of puzzles!!! Ok that is all I have to say… at the moment… MAKE ANOTHER!!! SOON!!!!!

  13. please please please can you tell me if your gonna make a sequel or not driving me crazy!!!!!!

  14. Please make a second i hated the ending such a cliffhanger i automatically said no way and walked away from my computer even though i am addicted to the game please make second!!!!!

  15. Please make a sequel!! I’ve played this game over and over because I love it so much, so please make a sequel!!!

  16. I won’t buy this game if you don’t make a sequel, I HATE cliffhangers!!!

  17. Why won’t someone just answer if there will be a sequel or not so we can all stop asking?
