Cooking Dash: DinerTown Studios – Developer Perspective: Part Two
Vicki Resendez, game producer at PlayFirst on the upcoming release of Cooking Dash: DinerTown Studios:
As I touched on in my last blog entry, the restaurant locations and themes are an exciting part of Cooking Dash: DinerTown Studios and represent the type of show each Hollywood studio is producing. The concept and creation of each restaurant set is loosely based on and inspired by several popular movies and genres:
Salt Lick Saloon - This restaurant location is a stylistic throwback to the Wild West movies. Our restaurant homage features several decorative details such as the old style flooring and wall panels reminiscent of the old saloons. As you succeed in serving your customers in a timely manner, you’ll also be able to add more western themed updates to make your restaurant the prettiest little saloon this side of dodge!
Safari Grill - Our Jungle restaurant is reminiscent of the Indiana Jones movies featuring themes around old Aztec and Mayan pyramids and tombs – our star studded customers may well be playing the role of mysterious adventuring archaeologists or dare devil volcano jumpers!
Buckingham Bistro – We escape the dare devil and gun toting themes for a more subdued and cordial backdrop in our English Tea House restaurant. Here you will be enveloped in the style of Georgian architecture and feel like you’ve stumbled into Jane Austen’s kitchen. Our customers are no doubt working on a classic period piece in this location – let’s just hope their dining moods match the milder decorum required of their acting!
Pot Sticker Palace - Our martial arts themed restaurant is so called due to the major influence of the King Fu TV and movie series in Hollywood. Here, you can almost hear the strains of the Chinese zither. Complete with red lanterns and old Chinese architecture, your customers will be steeped in these Asian traditions to help them stay in character for their acting roles. Be careful, however to keep them all happy and well fed so you don’t witness any of those Kung Fu moves first hand!
Crater Cafe – Science Fiction movies like 2001: Space Odyssey and Close Encounters of the Third Kind come to mind in our lunar landscape moon base restaurant. The occasional alien and giant robot may cross your path in this location and the futuristic atmosphere may also render your customers a little loony so make sure you keep up with their orders to avoid reliving this alien experience again and again!
Check out our exciting new restaurant worlds in more detail as Cooking Dash: DinerTown Studios releases this week!
